Your best option is to re-install QuarkXpress 2016 afresh. I did this after updating to the Creators Upgrade and it is running with no issues under the new Update . . .

OK, is it only the Quark Documents that you are having issue with or will the QuarkXpress application itself not open in Windows 10 Creators Upgrade

If the problem is that the documents will not open, Click HERE to download the QuarkXpress Document Converter, run your documents through that application and then try opening them in QuarkXpress again . . .

Hi ValKal, please disregard my last answer - it does not work!

I have looked into this further and you are correct. I talked with some of my friends who are graphic designers and typesetters and they agree with you, there is a huge issue opening previously created documents since the Creators Update.

I have posted to the QuarkXpress Forum informing them of this. They are normally very quick to fix issues like this (I have dealt with them a lot in the past) and will probably come out with a patch within the week . . .

QX2016 is opening fine but none of the QXP files will open including work created last week.

I reinstalled QX cleanly and still have the same problem. So I am sure there is a problem somewhere.

ValKar, thanks for pointing this issue out!

I have been in contact with the QuarkXpress Team, they are advising not to install the Creators Upgrade until they figure out the issue, the issue is definitely on their end and they are currently trying to figure out what is going wrong and will write a patch as soon as possible . . .

I have reverted back to previous version of Win10 after having more problems with Adobe CS3 suite - main problem here was with fonts not loading. Reverting back has resolved the issues.

ValKar, Matthias from Quark seems to have come up with a Fix - Click HERE to visit the thread on the QuarkXpress Forum

EDIT:

Here is the Fix, (I have verified that it does indeed fix the issue of opening previously created files in QuarkXpress 2016):

  1. Make sure you can see file extensions (go to Windows File Explorer, on the View Tab check the box marked 'File Name Extensions', then close Windows Fiel Explorer)
  2. Right click a blank part of your Desktop, select New - Text Document
  3. Copy the text below into it, save the file

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREMicrosoft.NETFramework]
'UseLegacyJit'=dword:00000001

4. Give the file a meaningful name and change the file extension from .txt to .reg

5. Right click the file and choose 'Merge', then when the warning comes up, agree to merge with your registry

6. Reboot

As I have reverted back to v1607 I think it may be better to wait till QX2017 is available. I am sure all the issues would be sorted by then. Also I am wondering if this fix would solve the font issues I have had with Adobe CS3??
