ERROR: DW003: Third party payload installer Adobe Acrobat Setup.exe failed with exit code: 1603 I did un-install the free version of Acrobat Reader, but that didn't solve the issue. For some reason, this didn’t work with the latest version released by Adobe. I started out with looking at the AppEnforce.log on one of the clients that reported the enforcement as failed. In the AppEnforce.log file, I could determine that it failed with exit code 1603.

This error usually occur on computers that do not have enough disk space for the installation.
Let’s follow these troubleshooting steps which should resolve the issue.
Step 1
Remove all temporary files by following these steps:
Type %temp%, temp, prefetch in the start search box>>press enter.
2. Delete all files present in these folders and leave those files which do not get deleted.
You may also run disk cleanup to reduce the number of unnecessary files on your hard disk to free up disk space.

Step 2
Also, close all applications running in the background. Then reboot the computer. Run the Windows Cleanup Utility to remove the traces of previous installation file.
Download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility from this link:

Now run the utility ('Start > All programs > Windows Install Cleanup'). In the list of programs that appear in Cleanup, select the adobe program, and click remove. Quit out of Cleanup.

Problem
You are trying to install Adobe patches to your machine. However, the installation fails with an error message: 'Error 1603. Fatal error during installation'.
Cause
The possible reasons for this error could be:
- Corruption in Windows registry from a recent Adobe Acrobat-related software change (install or uninstall).
- Virus or malware infection that has corrupted Windows system files or Adobe Acrobat-related program files.

- We recommend you first uninstall the patch completely and then reinstall it. To do this, you will have to download the patch with ID 300495. This patch will uninstall the Adobe patches and install the Base version : 15.007.20033 of the same. The Adobe patches would be found missing henceforth. Patch manager plus on identifying the missing Adobe patches, installs the latest version of Adobe patches in the subsequent patch deployment.
